What Is LASIK Surgery

Lasik surgery is very popular these days in the Health, it is a type of vision correction. It was introduced during the 1990s. Since that time, many people have had their eyesight corrected by this procedure. Some information about Lasik surgery can be found in this post below.

There are many types of vision problems which can be corrected by Lasik surgery. A steep cornea causes nearsightedness. Lasik can help to flatten this issue. People suffering from farsightedness have a cornea that needs to be steeper. Astigmatism is another common eye problem which can be corrected with Lasik surgery.

A laser tool is used is Lasik surgery to make a circular incision in your cornea. A flap is created by this incision. The doctor will perform the needed correction below the flap. Then the flap will be replaced and reconnected. The process will only take around 15 minutes per eye.

Recovery time for this procedure is comparatively painless and very short as well. Since it is an outpatient surgery, a patient will be in and out of the doctor’s office in around an hour’s time. Even though you should not drive or operate any vehicle the day of the surgery, your vision will be clear within a day or two and you can resume your daily activities like before. There should be minor discomfort for a couple of days. Most patients complain that they feel like there is a sand grain or dust speck in their eye.

There is a very good success rate when it comes to Lasik surgery. Some people report lights around the edge of their vision and dry eye, but these symptoms should go away over time. Apart from minor side effects, there are no other significant problems faced by anyone who underwent surgery.
